The news is not good today folks – Tom has another chest infection (the doctors alarmingly called the last one pneumonia after it had gone), and so he’s back on anti-biotics again and the ventilator weaning has been temporarily suspended to help him cope with this recurring challenge.

His other functions are ok, and he is stable. This is most probably just another bump in the road, but its also important to understand that it will require more time and rest.

I was not at the doctor briefing today, but this information comes from Jane who met with Doctor Moeng. He says that Tom is still at risk, but unless something new develops there will be no major change in the direction of the treatment.

A note for prospective visitors is that Tom seems to be finding the effort of communicating with lots of people very tiring. It is felt that visits should be selectively done for the moment until he has recovered from this setback. If you were planning to come, please try to check with Jane, Sal (who arrives on Sat again) or myself prior to the journey?

We did say there’d be many battles, much strength to Tom for this one.
